Convergence & Evolution: Mobile Phone & Television

In the speech, we will explore the similarity and difference of mobile phone and FPD TV industries. Owing to hi-res display, content convergence and powerful electronic platform, mobile phone has been encountering the new evolution to smart phone. Comparing with mobile phone, we can be inspired with the next evolution and application of FPD TV and the future eco-system is there. Mobile phone accounts for over 60% small-sized TFT LCD panel consumption and its built-in functions have been already far beyond the original design purpose today. The next development for mobile phone including spec and eco-system are more and more clear. And how about FPD TV? It's standing on a milestone right now with high and higher peneration but the question is how to last the growth and demand? How to meet the change and even challenge? Through examing three factors above, we are able to clarify the direction.

平面電視與手機之規格進化與系統整合新方向

藉由比較手機與平面電視產業之間的異同，我們可以獲得一些有用的啟示。由於更高解析度的面板、內容與應用的匯流趨勢，以及功能更強的電子平台等因素，整個手機相關的產業已經開始逐步往智慧型手機走去，而資訊與通訊兩個領域似乎緊密相遇的日子也已經不遠。在此，我們試圖透過手機與平面電視的比較，以反映出平面電視產業下一步的方向與未來可能的生態變化。
手機佔了中小尺寸TFT LCD面板出貨量的60%以上，而液晶電視也佔有25%以上，這兩種應用的重要性可見一班。時至今日，手機的功能早已經超越原先的通話目的，下一波的規格和生態發展也已經顯而易見。而液晶電視在經過這幾年的高度成長後，在出貨與產值的成長幅度上均有放緩的跡象，如何維持成長與刺激需求是最重要的課題。藉由上述三個因素的分析以及手機狀況的對映比較，我們將會摸索出這些潛在或是已發生之變化背後的意義。
